Dr. Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam (Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam) (15 October 1931 – 27 July 2015) was the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007. Dr. Abdul Kalam was also known as the People’s President and was the third President of India who was honored with a Bharat Ratna award, India’s highest civilian honor.

He graduated from the Institute of Technology, Madras in 1960 and was a scientist by career who turned into a politician. Dr.Kalam was popularly known as “Missile Man” after pioneering the country’s military missile program.
